Scientific Underpinnings for Doctor of Nursing Practice

Development of critical thinking skills of the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) student in evaluating the state of nursing knowledge and nursing science, and its impact on advanced nursing practice at the doctoral level. Introduction and exploration of the role of the DNP within the broader health-care environment and the relationship to advanced practice nursing roles. Discussion of theories and conceptual frameworks forming the foundations of knowledge and clinical scholarship in doctoral nursing practice. Study incorporates theoretical concepts and strategies that integrate practice inquiry across various roles of the advanced practice nurse. Emphasis on professional writing competencies related to the DNP practice scholarship.
