NURSING 238BAssessment and Management in Pediatric Chronic Care

Second in two-course sequence for the acute care and primary care pediatric nurse practitioner student focusing on pathophysiology of specific disease processes, pharmacologic knowledge, clinical decision-making, and treatment modalities in managing primary health conditions in infants, children, adolescents and their families at an advanced level. Study builds on foundational concepts covered in course 238A. Integration of cultural sensitivity, child development, family support, ethical issues into common pediatric patient cases. Lectures and other learning activities demonstrate the application and evaluation of evidence-based research and clinical guidelines in the pediatric population for independent synthesis of evidence to guide clinical decision-making in pediatric primary care.
