Introduction to Nursing and Social Justice II

Advanced discussion on history of nursing, with focus on role of contemporary nursing in relation to ethics and social justice. Analysis of ethical principles (justice, autonomy, veracity, beneficence, confidentiality) and professional values (altruism, autonomy, human dignity, integrity, and social justice) in relation to nursing practice throughout history in health/illness and end-of-life contexts. Evaluation of social, cultural, legal, and political forces in relation to paternalism for professional nurses working with diverse patient populations in the 21st century.
