Family Nurse Practitioner Practicum II

Second of five clinical practica designed to prepare family nurse practitioners with knowledge, skills, and competencies necessary to assume role of primary healthcare provider for families and individual patients across lifespan. Use of family-focused framework of care for those who experience common acute and chronic illness, disability, and developmental transitions. Emphasis on health promotion, maintenance, and risk reduction interventions across wide range of diverse populations. Preparation in variety of clinical settings to implement evidence-based practice guidelines and to critically analyze and adapt healthcare interventions based on individualized assessments of individual/family needs. Focus on context of community, cultural awareness, and practice in interdisciplinary teams. Students complete minimum of 80 direct clinical hours.
