Qualitative Research in Education: Ethnography

Examination of debates and dilemmas of conducting ethnography research in educational settings. Survey of research methodologies and methods (observations and interviews) in ethnography of education research. With consideration to issues of race/ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, class, language, and immigration status, study guided by central question of how ethnography can inform efforts to create more socially-just educational systems and spaces of learning. Designed to help students develop skills important for senior capstone project.
