Chemical Engineering · 4 units · Graduate courses (200-299)
Designed for graduate students. Introduction to advanced dynamical analysis and controller synthesis methods for nonlinear infinite dimensional systems. Topics include (1) linear operator and stability theory (basic results on Banach and Hilbert spaces, semigroup theory, convergence theory in function spaces), (2) nonlinear model reduction (linear and nonlinear Galerkin method, proper orthogonal decomposition), (3) nonlinear and robust control of nonlinear hyperbolic and parabolic partial differential equations (PDEs), (4) applications to transport-reaction processes.
Letter grading.
