Course 223A is requisite to 223B, which is requisite to 223C. Designed for graduate students. Researchers and faculty from the school of medicine present challenges and datasets from the health care system. Small student teams choose a project and develop a data science solution. Potential projects cover a variety of topics including medical image analysis, natural language processing of clinical text, and waveform analysis of biosignals. Review of research topics such as experimental design and statistical analysis as well as introducing data science techniques related to image analysis and artificial intelligence.
