Introduction to the Department of the Air Force (DAF). Overview of basic characteristics, missions, communications, and organization of the Air Force and Space Force. Examination of general aspects of the DAF, including leadership, officer benefits, and professional opportunities, while establishing a foundation for becoming airmen by emphasizing heritage and core values. Students gain historical and doctrinal perspective through lessons on war, the U.S. military, Air Force operations, principles of war, and airpower; and develop an understanding of how air and space power are employed from an institutional, doctrinal, and historical viewpoint. Students are introduced to the Air Force way of life and what it means to be an airman.
