How are ways of seeing constructed through culture, gender, religion, class, and nation? Theories and case studies from around world permit understanding of social processes through which gaze is determined and image economies negotiated. Topics include scopic regimes, aesthetics of streamlined design, and visuality and liberation. Concurrently scheduled with course C252.
