The Video Essay
World Arts and Cultures · 4 units · Undergraduate upper division (100-199)
Students watch, critique, and create video essays and essay films. Weekly screenings and readings guide discussions about the visual techniques of storytelling and the art of translating social and cultural theory to screen. Weekly assignments guide students in experimental revisions, sound collage, and video editing. Students are encouraged to use any combination of media montage, found footage, animation, photography, or other visuals in their editing process.
