Examination of determinants of urban poverty, with emphasis on poverty in U.S. and on geographical dimensions of poverty and planning interventions that contribute to poverty reduction. Topics include relationship between poverty and human and social capital, demographic change, low-wage labor market, spatial concentration of poor, residential segregation, and social policy.
