Examination of American political thought from founding to writings of Abraham Lincoln. Readings include Locke’s Second Treatise of Government , Declaration of Independence, Federalist numbers 10 and 51, and numerous writings and speeches of Lincoln, including extensive portions of Lincoln-Douglas debates. Emphasis on class discussion.
