Exploration of K-12 Classroom Practices in Science Education

Introduction to field of K-12 science education including equity and access, pedagogy, and career exploration. Examination of broad range of student developmental levels and science learning progressions from kindergarten to high school. Pairs of students are placed in local elementary, middle, or high school classrooms to observe, participate, and assist mentor teachers in instruction. Students engage in fieldwork lesson study including identifying Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS), lesson development, lesson implementation, and lesson reflection.
