Introduction to Nordic Cinema

Not open to students with credit for course 60W. Broad introductory overview of cinematic traditions of Nordic countries. Survey of wide range of films to become familiar with several significant threads running throughout history of Nordic film, while simultaneously building necessary tools with which to write effectively about film narrative. Offers historical and theoretical framework for understanding Nordic cinema by reading several relevant texts touching on issues such as globalization, immigration, Dogme 95, and feminist film theory.
