Introduction to social analysis of science and expertise by considering three overlapping themes: what differentiates science and scientific expertise from non-science, current and historical controversies about expertise and democracy in technical and policy decision-making, and features of science’s organization that encourage controversies about scientific integrity. Concurrently scheduled with course CM183.
