Exploration of how neighborhoods characterized by concentrated poverty affect urban residents. Evaluation of relative efficacy of various public policies that aim to improve life chances of urban poor. Use of explicitly political lens, evaluating roles that elite institutions, mass behavior, class and race-based power disparities, and public opinion play in development and implementation of urban policy.
