General topics related to primary affective disorders (depression, manic depressive illness), including diagnosis, pharmacology, epidemiology, psychology, phenomenology, biology, and treatment. Students enrolled for 4 units are assigned a more intensive reading list and required to make a presentation or prepare a research paper.
