Recommended: course M122. Investigation of plasma physics concepts through experiments using laboratory plasmas. Topics explored may include plasma breakdown and formation by cathode discharge and inductively-coupled electric fields, measurement of plasma properties using Langmuir probes, and excitation and measurement of plasma waves. Theory of operation and use of vacuum systems, electronics, pulsed high power sources, variety of measurement techniques, and data acquisition systems.
