Emphasizes basic pharmacological principles in addition to clinical knowledge and skills necessary for patient-centered care with stable acute or chronic conditions. Focus on major pharmacological classes, their mechanism of action, pharmacokinetics, indications, and adverse effects. Discussion of quality and safety of pharmacological interventions in clinical practice, with emphasis on collaborative teamwork (i.e. nurses, physicians, pharmacists) and evidence-based practice (e.g. current guidelines).
