Overview of conceptual frameworks related to contemporary family structure and functioning, with particular emphasis on health. Family is defined broadly to include nontraditional families, with consideration of cross-cultural views of families as well. Identification of limitations of current theory and research related to family study and applicability of current knowledge to various problems encountered in care of families.
