Knowledge of molecular biology and molecular genetics required. Discussion of diverse set of novel RNA modification phenomena known as RNA editing. Topics include U insertion/deletion type of editing in trypanosome mitochondria, C to U substitution editing in apo B mRNA and plant mitochondria, C insertion editing in Physarum mitochondria, etc. Discussion of mechanism, function, and evolution of these phenomena.
