LBR STD 96W
Writing and Research for Labor Studies
Labor Studies · 5 units · Undergraduate lower division (0-99)
Introduction to elements of effective academic writing and opportunity to practice this writing in a collaborative workshop environment. Student confidence is built in their own abilities to communicate academic research and writing to non-academic and activist audiences, and to engage with other students and scholars in labor studies. Students learn the fundamentals of effective academic research and writing, and have the opportunity to use research to engage with a problem or issue in labor and community organizing. Through researching and writing about current issues in labor studies, students develop a deeper understanding of the relationships between their education and society at large and how they, as college graduates, can transform the nature of work. Satisfies Writing II requirement.
