Italy between Europe and Africa

Knowledge of Italian or background in Italian studies not required. Analysis and critical discussion of works by Italian, northern European, and African writers (including travelers and migrants) who from 18th century to present have seen or experienced Italian peninsula and islands as bridge between Europe and Africa, or mix of both. Readings include works by northern European and African authors about Italy, and Italian authors about Africa and southern Italy.
