Digital Asset Management

Focus on technologies and workflows in managing digital moving image and audio assets throughout asset lifecycle. Under umbrella of digital asset management, students learn how to apply concepts of digital curation and preservation to actual systems and storage environments. Topics include file formats and transcoding, technical and preservation metadata, metadata modeling to encompass more than one media type, storage options, estimating costs, creation and preservation workflows, and developing functional requirements for researching software solutions. Review of national and international digital preservation initiatives. Leaders in digital asset management field are guest speakers.
