Introduction to fundamental archival concepts and key practices, including collection development, appraisal, preservation, restoration, arrangement and description, and critical analysis of their specific application to media collections and materials. Discussion of classical and emergent models for media archive administration, including funding, programming, outreach, access, and reuse; changing role of technology in media creation, collection, and preservation; ethics and community standards; different roles of public, private, and national media archives; and cultural impact of historical and contemporary audiovisual media.
