Addressing Inequalities: Comparative Law and Policy Analysis Tools for Examining Barriers and Paths Forward

Laws and policies in the U.S. and countries around the world often structure into their details inequalities across age, class, disability, gender, gender identity, immigration status, race, sexual orientation, and other human characteristics. Students gain skills to carry out comparative law and policy analysis that enable them to analyze the extent to which laws exacerbate inequalities. Demonstration of series of approaches for examining how laws and policies can reduce inequalities at a national scale, as well as the impact of laws and policies on biased norms. Students select an area for which they would like to develop and analyze comparative data. Study is suited to doctoral students interested in studying and addressing inequalities and master’s students with strong research backgrounds.
