Exploration of musical genre known as funk that emerged in its popular form during late 1960s and reached popular high point, in black culture, during 1970s. Funk, fusion of gospel, blues, jazz, rhythm and blues, soul, rock, and many other musical styles, offer students unique window into recent African American history.
