Sociohistorical look at changes in medical science, health and disease, and treatment practices in 20th century within context of development of hospitals and research institutions and of changing American society. Particular topics include antibodies and other wonder drugs, cancer research and treatment, mental illness, patient activism, and genetic medicine.
