Gender in French and Francophone Literature and Cinema

Examination of interactions between successive waves of feminism, theorization of gender, and aesthetic and cultural production from postwar period to present. Reading of literary and theoretical texts and study of films by well-known French and Francophone critiques, writers, and filmmakers to explore how literature and film have intervened in the debates, the questions, and the struggles that have shaped how gender differences and gender inequalities are approached today.
