French in Community
French · 5 units · Undergraduate upper division (100-199)
Prepares students for the business world by building a bridge between their academic learning and the local business community. Students work directly with local Francophone companies (e.g., small businesses, local chambers of commerce, and associations serving the Francophone communities). They develop their cultural awareness and French language competencies in class through readings and discussions, and apply their knowledge to their fieldwork. Their intercultural competencies are a tremendous asset for the partner company as well as their ability to perform both in English and French. By working closely with their community partners, students develop important business relationships. Students have the option to take the Diplôme du Français Professionnel delivered by the Chambre du Commerce et d’Industrie de Paris.
P/NP or letter grading.
