Adolescent Literacy Development across Disciplines
Education · 3 units · Graduate professional courses for teachers (300-399)
Designed to strengthen how pre-service teachers support the literacy development of adolescents across disciplines (e.g., mathematics, science, social studies, and language arts). Students further develop as teachers by utilizing reading, writing, listening, and speaking strategies to lead to deeper content knowledge for adolescents. Focus on reading comprehension for a full range of learners (struggling readers, students with dyslexia and other special needs, English learners, speakers of non-standard English, and advanced learners). Study aligns with California state content and literacy frameworks and standards, including standards for English language development.
Letter grading.
