Consideration of what shapes learning and education in society. Exploration of education as a living system—connected to communities, histories, and various social forces—that is continuously shaped and reshaped through multiple system layers (micro-, meso-, and macrolevels) encompassing informal and formal learning environments. Study highlights specific intersections between the education system and the institutions, communities, and larger society in which it is rooted and coevolves.
