Community-Engaged Research in Health Education

Examination of how caring is enacted, negotiated, and sustained in clinical and educational settings with focus on care as relational practice. Students work closely with Wellness Collaborative for Research and Education Activities to Transform and Empower (WeCREATE) partners across medicine, education, and community schools to study caring relations in practice. Through the analysis of video-recorded medical encounters and co-generative dialogue with clinicians, examination of how care is shaped through communication, power, uncertainty, and dialogue across differences. Activities include active participation in a community-based heart clinic, collaborative analysis of clinical interactions, and mentoring relationships with community school students exploring medical work and care practices.
