Examination of sex and gender systems of Greek and Roman cultures in ancient Mediterranean world. What Greek and Roman sex/gender systems were, how they changed over time, and difference it makes. Readings include both modern theories about sex and history as foundation for course and broad range of ancient texts in translation.
