Women's History in Ancient Mediterranean

Overview of approaches to problem of writing women’s history in ancient Mediterranean world. Topics include law, medicine, work, religion (pagan, Christian, Jewish), and literature, with particular attention to themes of war, slavery, and sex trafficking. Exercises train students in critical use of primary documents and ancient sources, including inscriptions and other forms of material culture.
