Blood Donations and Community Engagement

Students gain a holistic view of blood donation and transfusion as a community resource. Includes readings, discussions, and site visits focused on community engagement and donor recruitment, blood drive organization, blood product manufacturing, and indications for transfusion. Identification of opportunities to increase blood donations within diverse communities and to empower students to be community educators and champions for blood donation. Ensuring a sufficient supply of safe, potent, and pure blood products is essential to patient care.
