Unsaturated Soil Mechanics

Properties and engineering behavior of multiphase soil systems; thermodynamics, interfacial physics, mechanics, and hydrology perspectives to understand unsaturated soil mechanics principles; geoengineering problems that involves unsaturated soils (e.g., precipitation-induced landslides, expansive soils, bearing capacity and settlement of shallow foundations, pavement and roadway drainage design, design and monitoring of waste containment facilities). May be repeated once for credit.
