(Same as Biomathematics M211 and Human Genetics M211.) Theoretical models in molecular evolution focusing on phylogenetic techniques. Topics include evolutionary tree reconstruction methods, studies of viral evolution, phylogeography and coalescent approaches. Examples provided from evolutionary biology and evolutionary medicine, with unique focus on implications for human disease processes. Laboratory for hands-on computer analysis of sequence data.
