Ethics in Bioengineering

Introduction to ethical and societal considerations in the professional practice of bioengineering. Exploration of ethical and moral principles, roles and responsibilities of bioengineers, and social and equity impacts of biomedical engineering in modern health care. Review of bioethics case studies, pharmacology projects, and emerging molecular bioengineering technologies in detail; and development of strong arguments. Students draft 15-20 pages of revised prose and complete informal writing assignments. Satisfies engineering ethics requirement. Satisfies Writing II requirement. May be repeated once for credit.
