Exploration of rise of film in Pacific Islands during 20th century, with attention to politics of gender, history, and representation, to engage students in textual and visual readings of feature-length films about Pacific. Discussions, film screenings, and guest speakers, with focus on aesthetic, cultural, economic, gendered, historical, and political dimensions of films.
