(Same as African American Studies M202.) Introduction to variety of ideas that underlie articulation of construct of African diaspora. Structured through understanding of African diaspora as historical formation, with focus on African diaspora as distinct intellectual project. Exploration of ways scholars have conceptualized and theorized diasporic condition of Black peoples. Consideration of who belongs to African diaspora community, and how this community is imaged.
