Ethnography of Communication

Designed for graduate students. Seminar devoted to examining representative scholarship from fields of sociolinguistics and ethnography of communication. Particular attention to theoretical developments including relationship of ethnography of communication to such disciplines as anthropology, linguistics, and sociology. Topical foci include style and strategy, speech variation, varieties of noncasual speech genres, languages and ethnicity, and nonverbal communication behavior.
