Ethnography of Everyday Speech

Designed for juniors/seniors. Course has two interrelated objectives: (1) to introduce students to ethnography of communication—description and analysis of situated communicative behavior—and sociocultural knowledge that it reflects and (2) to train students to recognize, describe, and analyze relevant linguistic, proxemic, and kinesic aspects of face-to-face interaction.
