Basic introduction to language and hieroglyphic script of ancient Egypt. Devoted to learning principles of hieroglyphic writing and Egyptian grammar, deciphering standard inscriptions, and using hieroglyphic text editing software to type hieroglyphs on computer. Students acquire ability to recognize and translate hieroglyphic inscriptions on common museum objects.
