Multidisciplinary approach to study of African political economy. While grounded in discipline of history, study prepares students to actively engage with social sciences—in particular economics, political science, and anthropology. Study of Africa’s economic past from initial scholarship in 1960s and 1970s on questions such as how Africa was integrated into world economy, and causes to of wealth and prosperity; to questions of governance in 1990s.
