Introduction to historical and contemporary Africa, with focus on modern history, politics, and culture. Survey of key issues impacting Africa today and in future—from political discussions on independence, geopolitics of aid and development, cultural transmission and relationship with African diaspora, modern movement and migration, and debates on racial and geographic divide between Arab north and south of Sahara.
