Global atmospheric circulation and its variability in changing climate. Topics include theory of Rossby waves and application to global circulation of atmosphere, dynamics of Hadley cell and monsoon circulations, wave-mean interaction and application to jets/storm tracks, energetics of eddies and available potential energy in atmosphere, and coupling among circulation, moisture, and clouds.
