Analysis and Prediction of Weather Systems
Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences · 5 units · Undergraduate upper division (100-199)
Designed for advanced undergraduates who are interested in developing forecasting and broadcasting skills. Understanding synoptic and mesoscale surface-atmospheric conditions are key for predicting and forecasting short, medium, and long-range weather at the local to regional scale. Through a series of theoretical formal lectures and applied laboratory and project-based learning sessions, students acquire the analytical skillsets required to produce public forecasts, and are prepared for a career in operational and broadcast meteorology for the National Weather Service and other weather agencies across North America.
